Student Life

Daily life for students at Louisiana Teen Challenge has many different aspects. From 6:30am wakeup to 10:00pm lights-out, students are involved in something all throughout the day. Whether it be Bible classes in the morning, work detail in the afternoon, or study hall at night, there is never a dull moment in life at Teen Challenge.

Provided below is a preview of some of the aspects of Louisiana Teen Challenge student life.

Ministry

Teen Challenge staff and students often minister in churches, schools, and organizations. Our volunteer choir travels to many locations to share songs of hope and deliverance as well as personal testimonies of God's goodness and faithfulness in their lives.

Classroom Studies

The Teen Challenge biblically centered curriculum is key to students' life in Christ. Three hours of each day are devoted to group and individual studies in the classroom, while an additional hour each evening is set aside for study hall. In addition to the biblical studies, students lacking a full high school education will be required to obtain their G.E.D.

Chapel

Devotional services are held periodically to help encourage students in their devotional lives as well as challenge them in their everyday personal lives. Many students deal with issues that are usually ignored or previously left unattended while under the conviction of the Holy Spirit during chapel services.

Greenhouse

Work detail at Teen Challenge consists of many different aspects. Our greenhouse is run year round and is used to grow plants and flowers used for fund raisers. The Christmas poinsettias shown here are a huge success annually at churches and in the community.

Thrift Store

The Mt. Grace Thrift Store located in Winnfield, LA, is another aspect of work detail for the students. Here we accept donations from the community and sell various items at discounted prices as a business to help supplement monthly support for the program.

Candlemaking

Students make beautiful, fragrant candles as part of their work detail each day. Along with our greenhouse plants and flowers, these candles are big sellers at sales and ministry events.

Farming

Teen Challenge students also learn the skills and faith involved in farming. They benefit from reaping the fruit of their labor, supplying fresh food for the center, and retail to the community. Blueberries and cantaloupes are popular sellers during the summer months.
