Louisiana Teen Challenge
The Faith-Based Solution for the Drug Epidemic
Perhaps the most popular question we receive is: "How does someone get into your program?"
Below we hope to outline the steps we require for admission, as well all other pre-entry
responsibilities that we place upon the applicant. We invite you to call the appropriate
Induction Center with questions about issues not addressed here.
There are several requirements for admission that come before all others. While some of these
requirements may prove to be beyond the control of an individual, they are set forth with the
work load, duties, and accommodation abilities of the program in mind.
BASIC ADMISSION REQUIREMENTS:
1. Desire to enter and complete the program.
Every applicant MUST have their own desire to both change and be a part of the Teen
Challenge program. Applicant families need not urge their loved ones to apply if it
is not their loved one's personal desire to enter the program.
2. Relatively good physical health.
While perfect health is obviously not a requirement, our program does incorporate a 3-5 hour work
detail each day that our students are required to participate in. Students unable to do light lifting,
yard work, or with limited mobility need to inform the Admissions Director at the center they are
applying to in order to determine if physical condition(s) will prohibit entry into the program.
3. Seventeen (17) years of age or older.
Louisiana Teen Challenge's minimum age requirement for entry is 17. This requirement is for both
the men's and women's programs. Anyone younger than 17 will have to be considered on an individual
case basis for entry into Louisiana Teen Challenge.
In addition to the basic admission requirements, there are a few basic steps also required
in order to complete the application process. While these steps can be done fairly quickly,
they are necessary to ensure that each applicant knows as much about the program as
possible before entering. We sincerely appreciate your cooperation in these matters.
BASIC STEPS TO ADMISSION
1. Thoroughly read the entire Student Manual.
The Student Manual may be obtained one of two ways: it may be downloaded at the right or, if you choose,
it can be mailed to you. Be advised that the mail obviously takes longer and could result in a much
longer wait to be admitted.
2. Fill out the Student Application.
The Student Application is mandatory paperwork for each person applying for entry into Louisiana Teen
Challenge. This step is only necessary AFTER the applicant has read the student manual and decided
that they are ready to enter the program and submit to our rules and guidelines. Like the Student Manual,
the Student Application can be downloaded at the right or we can mail it to a physical address of your choice.
3. Schedule an interview with the Admissions Director.
After an applicant has read the Student Manual and filled out the Student Application, the final step in the
application process is a personal interview with the Admissions Director at the center the applicant will be
entering. If an applicant lives within 1 hour of the center, he will need to schedule a time for a face to face
interview. If living beyond 1 hour's drive, the applicant will need to call and go through the interview over
the phone. Following the interview, applicants will be required to have 4 blood tests completed and will then
be ready to enter the program or put onto a waiting list, depending upon the current level of residency.
